Set in Washington, DC, Powerhouse focused on the adventures of a racially and ethnically diverse group of six teenagers and young adults from the inner city, based at a community center founded by a woman named Brenda Gaines, who inherited the location from her family. The basic theme of the series is that every person is a source of creativity and power. “We all have a power house deep down inside,” as one line said in the show’s theme song.

Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? is an American children’s television game show based on the Carmen Sandiego computer game. The program aired on PBS from 1991 until 1995. Greg Lee hosted the program in the role of “The ACME Special Agent in charge of training new recruits.” He was joined by Lynne Thigpen as “The Chief” and acapella performing group Rockapella, who served as the show’s in-house band and comedy troupe.

Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat is set c. 1900 during the Qing Dynasty, Sagwa has fun in her day-to-day life while learning and teaching valuable life lessons.
Sagwa resides in the palace of a magistrate in China of pre-colonial Hong Kong (possibly during the Qing, as shown by the characters’clothes), part of a royal family of cats who have the ability to write with their tails. She and her siblings, along with various other cats and Fu-Fu the bat partake in adventures that are usually accompanied by moral lessons, as is typical with most children’s shows. However, one aspect that sets this show apart is its display of various aspects of Chinese culture, which helps promote awareness and understanding of other ethnicities.
THROWBACK THURSDAY: Marvin The Tap Dancing Horse was on PBS Kids from 2000-2002.
Marvin is a dancing brown horse with a black mane and tail who performs in Fast-Talking Jack’s carnival. He used to be in movies and on Broadway; his first big break was in the musical movie 43rd Street (a takeoff of 42nd Street), although he’s not proud of his performance in it. His hooves are tuxedo-themed and they make the tapping noises. He also wears a red bowtie around his neck. In the beginning of one of the episodes, it is taken off.
The show also includes: Stripes The Tiger, Elizabeth The Emotional Pig, Eddy Largo (Edward Larue III), Diamonds the Elephant, Fast-Talking Jack, Edna and more!

Do you remember Clifford the Big, Red Dog before he was big?! Clifford’s Puppy Days is an animated children’s television series that originally aired on PBS Kids from 2003 to 2004. A spin-off of the original Clifford the Big Red Dog, it is set before the original series, and features the adventures of Clifford during his puppy days before he grew.

Make Way for Noddy was a British/American show which aired on PBS kids beginning in January 2005 (and the UK in 2002.)
Noddy is a wooden boy who lives in Toyland. Although he is characterized as a child, with a child’s imagination and fears, in Toyland he also serves as the main taxi driver. He often finds himself in difficult situations due to his childlike impulsiveness and energy, but his Toy Town friends always help him set things right.
Uh… upside down Thursday? For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we give you The Magic School Bus theme song but upside down? Why? Why not! It’s how the Frizz would have wanted it.
In 1994, The Magic School Bus concept was made into an animated series of the same name by Scholastic Studios, and premiered on September 10, 1994. Forte says that adapting the books into an animated series was an opportunity to help kids “learn about science in a fun way”.

Jay Jay the Jet Plane takes place at the fictional Tarrytown Airport. Full of CGI characters, Jay Jay is joined by a few other younger planes, some older planes, ground vehicles and, of course, a few humans. It aired on PBS KIDS from 2001-2005.
Some say that Jay Jay was too similar to Thomas the Tank Engine… what do you think?
